Rose Labruzzo

Rose LaBruzzo, 91, of Meadville, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Embassy of Park Ave.

Rose was born in Buffalo, NY on June 7, 1932, a daughter of the late Paul and Emily (Dubucki) Strencejewski.

On June 6, 1953 Rose married Gus "Captain" LaBruzzo; they were married for 62 years before his death in 2005.

Their journey together brought them to Conneaut Lake in 1972, where they started LaBruzzo Port-O-Call Restaurant. After two years they moved to Meadville and started Captain Gus Restaurant on the corner of Park Ave. and Chestnut St. Rose later went on to work as Manager of Montgomery Ward's Buffeteria, until the store's closing. At that time she went to work for her favorite brother in law, Norman LaBruzzo, at Pub on the Square in Meadville, where so many people still remember her delicious food.

Rose enjoyed playing BINGO and played as many times as she could make it. Working in her yard gave her so much pleasure. She loved her flowers and especially working with her rose bushes. She enjoyed staying up at night until the wee hours of the morning watching movies and every afternoon it was "The Price is Right". Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She loved her family deeply.

Rose is survived by three children Joe LaBruzzo (Charlotte), Dianne McConnell (Chris), John LaBruzzo (Kelly); 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brother in law Norman LaBruzzo; sister in law Linda Gigante; many nieces and nephews including Joanne Wachowski.

In addition to her parents and husband, Gus, of Rose was preceded in death by 12 siblings including Teri McManus and Paul Strencejewski; and sister in law Marie LaBruzzo.

Services are private.

Rose will be laid to rest with her husband, Gus, in St. Brigid Cemetery.
