Charles T. Lawrence, Sr., 89, of 906 Erie St. Saegertown, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2013, at home.
Charles was born in LeContes Mills on May 21, 1924, a son of the late Charles W. and Anna (Meyers) Lawrence.
On July 5, 1947 he married Evelyn Walker; she survives.
He was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.
After 49 years of service, Charles retired from the former Talon, Inc., of Meadville as corporate Quality Control Manager. A US Army veteran, Charles entered active duty on February 8, 1943 and served his country honorably until his discharge on December 21, 1945. During his service time he participated in the French, Belgium and German campaigns. A graduate of Meadville High School, Charles also attended Allegheny College. A charter member of the Saegertown American Legion Post #205, Charles was also a member of Venango VFW Post #169 and Saegertown Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a former Justice of the Peace for Woodcock Twp. Charles was also a member of 'Lower Sheriff Lodge' hunting camp in Forest County since 1955 where he, along with Lew Brown, Bill Hall, Don Redmond, Bill Sherry, Judd Smith, Nor Stainbrook and Bernie Williams, shared great times together.
In addition to his wife, Evelyn, of 66 years, Charles is survived by three sons Charles, Jr. and his wife Becky, Joseph and his wife Cheri, both of Saegertown, A. Mark of California, a nephew John Lawrence whom he helped raise and his wife Susan, a sister Patricia Amboyer of Titusville, seven grandchildren Kelly Moutsatsos and her husband Russ, Mark Phelan and his wife Marisa, Ellie Amory and her husband Jason, Andrew Lawrence and his wife Mary, Joey Lawrence and his wife Kelly, Lyndi Lawrence, Tiffany Willard and her husband Matt, 8 great grandchildren Grant Phelan, Tyler Amory, Sophie Moutsatsos, Will Phelan, Maria Amory, Sebastian Moutsatsos, Lynette Phelan, Alene Lawrence, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by five sisters Alice, Marie, Vivian, Betty, Anna, five brothers Clark, Eddie, Joe, George and Blair.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, September 22, 2013, from 2-5 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 330 Broad St., Saegertown, where a Scripture Service will be conducted at 4:30 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 23, 2013, with Fr. Johnathan Schmolt, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will take place in Venango Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., or St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch St., both of Meadville, PA 16335.
