Ida Joan Peirce

Ida Joan Peirce, 99, of Meadville, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at home, surrounded by her family.

Ida was born in Meadville, on February 25, 1924, a daughter of the late Mark and Caroline (Rondinara ) DeSantis.

On January 24, 1942 Ida married Joseph E. Peirce; he preceded her in death.

She was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.

For many years Ida was employed as an Administrative Assistant for PA Department of Health, for Allegheny College and various other organizations. She was a member of the Italian Civic Club Auxiliary, BPW, Meadville Elks Auxiliary, Eagles Club Auxiliary, YMCA Gallivanters and the Women's Club of Meadville. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, traveling, baking and square dancing.

Ida is survived by two children Carolyn Gallo (Fred) of Myrtle Beach, SC, J. Eugene Peirce (Linda) of Spring, TX; four grandchildren Stephanie, Kimberly, Karin and Kelly; a great granddaughter Claire.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ida was preceded in death by four sisters Theresa Montana, Mary Varano, Clara Rosenberg, Nellie Abbondanza; three brothers Henry, Jack and Sam DeSantis.

A private service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Ida will be entombed in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Vernon Twp.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, 16792 Conneaut Lake Road, or Wesbury, 31 N. Park Ave., both in Meadville, PA 16335.
