James "Jim" David Worley, Sr., 76 of Meadville, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, after a short illness. He was surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born on January 6, 1939, in Meadville, the son of the late James R. and Josephine (Ladds) Worley.
He served in the US Army from 1957-1960, where he was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. He truly loved jumping out of airplanes.
His other interest included occasional casino trips, cookouts, card games, dining out and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was very influential in all their lives. He was a 1956 graduate of the former Townville High School. He worked for many years as a self-employed water well driller in the Crawford County area.
Survivors include two sons James D. Worley, Jr. and his wife Carla of Peoria, AZ, Robert Worley and his wife Mary of Townville, three daughters Joanne Taylor and her husband Scott of Little Cooley, Tricha Gregor and her companion Eric Young of Meadville, Kimberly Worley of Meadville, with whom he resided, a step son Douglas Finney and his wife Lisa of Connecticut, a step daughter Emily Kuda and her husband Jason of Chicago, IL. He is also aided in raising numerous other children who adopted him as a father figure. He is further survived by a sister Virginia Wentz and her husband Dennis of Guys Mills, a niece Amanda Prusia and her husband Dale of Guys Mills. Also surviving are ten grandchildren Danielle Bell of Surprise, AZ, Allyse Worley of Peoria, AZ, Jason Gregor of Meadville, Rachel Gregor of State College, Mitch and Rebecca Worley of Townville, Jamie McNamara of San Diego, CA, Cathy Moyer of Townville, Savannah and Jason Kuda, Jr. of Chicago, IL, five great grandchildren Sophia and Scarlett Bell of Surprise, AZ, Tommy McNamara of San Diego, CA, Domonic Merritt and Cadence Mascitti of Townville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In honor of his wishes, there will be no calling hours.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, cards may be sent to Kimberly Worley, 655 Madison Ave., Floor 1, Meadville, PA 16335 or a charity of choice in his honor.
