Peter Powell, Jr.

Peter Powell, Jr., 91, of Meadville, passed away Monday, February 21, 2022, at Meadville Medical Center.

Peter was born in Canton, MS on August 25, 1930, a son of the late Peter and Annie (Goodloe) Powell, Sr.

He was a member of Bethel AME Church.

As a young boy, Peter moved to Meadville. He became employed by the Meadville Country Club, and later by PPG Industries where he retired with 24 years of service as a crane operator. A hard worker all of his life, Peter also mastered his skill as a cement layman. He quickly became well known in the community for his fine quality of workmanship, fairness, and honesty. His hobbies included hunting and fishing. What he enjoyed most in life was time spent with family and friends. He will be sadly missed.

Peter is survived by four children Edward Powell of Pittsburgh, Peter Powell III, Marsha Phillips, both of Meadville, Tim Powell (Pamela) of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren Nyree, Karrail, David, Danielle, Andrea, Timothy "Justin"; several great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; two sisters Eva Mae Jones of Meadville, Annette Walls of Houston, PA; his long time companion Daisy Trantham; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Peter was preceded in death by three brothers Henry Powell, Sr., Ott Powell, Nathaniel Powell; two sisters Johnnie Mae Powell, and Sally McMurty.

Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, February 27, 2022, from 12-2 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where a Home Going Service will follow at 2 PM. For those not able to attend the service, it will be livestreamed via the funeral home facebook page (Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc.)

Peter will be laid to rest in Greendale Cemetery.
