R. Scott Eves, 69, of North Ridgeville, OH, formerly of Raymond Drive, Meadville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at home, surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Scott was born in Meadville, on January 22, 1950, a son of the late Robert A. and Betty J. (Bruce) Eves.
On September 27, 1969 Scott married his high school sweetheart, Kathleen Anselmo; she survives.
Scott was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, North Ridgeville, OH and on March 23, 2019 was baptized, received his First Holy Communion and Confirmation into Catholicism.
Scott retired from Griffin Motors as the Financial Manager in 2013 after 35 years of service. Following his retirement Scott was employed by Northwest Pharmacy. He graduated from Meadville Area Senior High School in 1967 where he was a member of the Basketball Team, Golf Team, Student Council and Vice President of his Senior Class. Scott attended New Castle Business College and played on their Basketball Team. For many years he was a hard hitting member of Phil's Grill Softball Team. A former member of the Country Club of Meadville, Scott enjoyed playing in the Friday Night Twilight Golf League with his wife Kathy as well as playing golf with the "Gin Boys". For many years Scott could be found playing basketball in the early morning at the YMCA. He was an active member of the Girls Basketball and Girls Volleyball Boosters while his daughters were growing up. Over the years Scott held memberships at the Italian Civic Club (ICC), BPOE Elks #219, West Mead Volunteer Fire Dept. #2 all of Meadville and Station #3 of Conneaut Lake. He served as Vice President of Raymond Drive Water Company. Scott also enjoyed traveling and he looked forward to going to the beach often. He was a talented furniture maker and took pride in making furniture to share with his family. Additionally he was a great cook and his specialty pancakes were much enjoyed by his grandchildren. Scott will be remembered as a kind, caring and gentle man. His greatest treasure was his family; time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren is what made his life complete. Scott will be missed.
In addition to his wife, Kathy "Sam", of 49 years, Scott is survived by a son Daniel M. Barrett (Mary Elizabeth) of Winston Salem, NC, three daughters Lisa St. Aubyn of Cleveland, OH, Adrian Eves of Pittsburgh, Lindsay Gorski (Rick) of Cleveland, OH, ten grandchildren Philip R. St. Aubyn, Taylor M. St. Aubyn, McLendeon "Mac" J. Barrett, Andrew R. Gorski, McAlister "Cal" Barrett, Lauren K. Gorski, Natalie E. Gorski, Camren T. Eves, Anthony M. Gorski, Isabella St. Aubyn, and a sister Connie Peters (Cliff) of Stoneboro, several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, April 14, 2019, from 2-6 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 404 CHESTNUT STREET, MEADVILLE, where a scripture service will be held at 5:30 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville on Monday, April 15, with Fr. Andrew Boyd, Parochial Vicar, officiating.
