Robert F. Beier, Sr.

Robert F. Beier, Sr., 71, of 21113 Star Route, Meadville, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014, at home.

Robert was born in Meadville, on January 20, 1943, a son of the late Fredrick Gustave and Rowena (Henshaw) Beier.

On August 1, 2002 Robert married Helen Pontillo; she survives. He had previously been married to Mary Jean Daddio who preceded him in death.

Robert was a Tool and Die maker more than 45 years. He began his own business, Independent Tool and Manufacturing, in October 1981 and had just recently retired. Robert was a Veteran of the US Air Force where he was honorably discharged in 1967. A 1963 graduate of Meadville High School, he was a member of the ICC Club, the V.F.W., the Meadville Club, the Eagles and Station 4. His hobbies and interest included golfing, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, hunting, fishing, bowling, gardening, cooking and making golf clubs. He also enjoyed the out doors but his greatest joys were attending the activities of his grandchildren and playing with his dog, Gracie.

In addition to his wife Helen of 12 years, Robert is survived by five children Robert F. Beier, Jr. and his wife Carrie, Donald D. Beier, Stephanie E. Beier all of Meadville, Sean Kelley of Hollywood, FL, Katie Carr and her husband Rob of North Carolina, seven grandchildren Joshua Beier, Justin Beier, Jared Beier, Khaliah Manning, Kymora Manning, Kayla Kelley, Connor Carr, a sister JoAnne Steadman and her husband Art of Cambridge Springs, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a sister Jackie Beier.

Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, December 28, 2014, from 2-5 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where Funeral services will be held at 5:00 PM with Fr. Matthew Kujawinski, Pastor of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, officiating. Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006 will follow.

Robert will be laid to rest in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
