Sara Ann Barco

Sara Ann Barco, 74, of 563 Highland Ave., Meadville, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017, at home.  

Sara was born in Meadville on April 23, 1943, a daughter of the late Dr. Charles J. and Mary Grace (Cardinale) DeMarco.  

On September 2, 1963 Sara married James "Jim" Barco; he survives.

She was a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church and a graduate of Meadville High School. Sara was a hair stylist in the Meadville area for more than 30 years.  During this time she met and made many dear friends.  For many years she was an avid bowler. Her other hobbies included jewelry-making, playing cards, cooking and entertaining, craft/antique outings and enjoying good times with family and friends. Sara loved to travel and enjoyed her trips with her sister-in-law Patricia and friend Susan to Turkey and Spain. She was especially delighted to attend beach and ski trips with her grandchildren and family, as well as attending all of their sporting events. As a teenager she lived in Germany for two years and often reflected on that positive experience. Sara was loved deeply by many and will be greatly missed.

In addition to her husband, Jim, of 53 years, Sara is survived by three children Traci Ann Basile and her husband Anthony of New Jersey, Tamara Marie Pell and her husband James of Virginia, Michael Patrick Barco and his wife Roxanne of Ohio, nine grandchildren Chloe Basile, Ava Pell, Sara Pell, Rebeca Pell, Tanner Barco, Spencer Barco, Conner Barco, Hunter Barco, Carter Barco, two sisters in law Patricia Barco of Queens, NY, Kathleen Mosbacher of Meadville, two nephews John DeMarco and C J DeMarco.  

In addition to her parents, Sara was preceded in death by a brother Philip T. DeMarco.

The family would like to thank their friends for all of their love and support throughout the years. A special thank you to the staff of Meadville Medical Center, Dr. Calvin Hahn and staff at the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute and the Hospice of Crawford County staff.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday from 6-8 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, with Fr. Tom Trocchio, Parochial Vicar, officiating.

Sara will be laid to rest in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 766 Liberty St., or Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, 16792 Conneaut Lake Road, both in Meadville, PA 16335.
