Shane Joseph Thompson, 30, of Meadville, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Meadville Medical Center.

Shane was born at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, on September 4, 1991, a son of Stuart and the late Paulette "Pauli" (Mangarella) Thompson.

Over the years he attended St. Brigid Church and Christ Episcopal Church.

A 2010 graduate of Meadville High School, Shane was a member of the football team where he played on both sides of the ball and became known as "Snuffy". He also played trombone in the school band. He enrolled in the Sports Training Program at Duquesne University and changed his major to Economics and Finance. While there he was a member of the Ruby Team. Shane went on to play semi pro football for four years as an offensive lineman. He was currently working at Bethesda as an Overnight Residential Supervisor. He loved his job and the children he worked with. An avid hockey fan, Shane especially enjoyed following the Penguins and playing Fantasy Hockey. He was intellectually gifted especially in technology.

Shane is survived by his father Stuart Thompson of Meadville, his sister Gwendolyn Dove (Josh) of Houston, TX; his fiance' Elizabeth D. Bean of Meadville; his paternal grandmother Margie Thompson of Meadville; aunts, uncles and cousins; and Alanna and Emileigh Sayenga to whom he was very close and were like daughters.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Pauli Thompson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a future date, which will be announced.

Arrangements are under the direction of STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.
