Stephen Douglas Minnis

Stephen Douglas Minnis, 66, of Meadville, passed away Friday, September 6, 2019, at Marquette Hospice House.

Stephen was born in Meadville, on April 14, 1953, a son of the late Robert W. and Norma Jean (Schreck) Minnis.

On December 8, 1997 Stephen married Rose Ann Farkus Bergamasco; she survives.

In 1973 Stephen began his 30+ year career with the former PPG Industry, which later became known as PGW. He was employed as a Packer/Operator until his health began to decline, forcing an early retirement. He was a 1971 graduate of Meadville High School. He was a member of Conneaut Lake Sportsman's Club and the PPG Trap Shooting Team. A huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Stephen also enjoyed shooting trap, playing softball, camping, hunting and spending time outdoors. He loved listening to music from the 1970's. Stephen will be sadly missed.

In addition to his wife, Rose Ann of 21 years, Stephen is survived by two children Michelle Elnyczky (Bill) of Pittsburgh, Stephanie McKay (Shawn) of Espyville, two step children Dee Darcangelo Henry (Greg) of Meadville, Tony Darcangelo (Gretchen) Hermitage, five grandchildren Laura, Mark, Cameron, McKayla, Zoey, three sisters Cindy Splitstone, (Don) of Linesville, Bonnie Edwards (James) of Lock Haven, Anita Becker (Rick) of Little Valley, NY, two brothers Richard Minnis (Joyce) of Conneaut Lake, James Minnis (Carolynne) of Paso Robles, CA, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Stephen was preceded in death by a son Michael Minnis, an infant brother Thomas Minnis and his beloved dog, Maunchie who brought him great joy.

A Private Celebration of Life Service will be held at a future date.

A special thanks to Dr. Andra Fee and the nurses of Marquette Hospice House for the wonderful care they provided. A special thanks also to Stephen's friends and coworkers at PPG/PGW for the love and support given. Finally thank you to Ms. Sara King of Hospice of Crawford County for all the guidance provided.
