A. Kathryn Thayer

A. Kathryn Thayer of Meadville, passed away on May 9, 2020, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 77.

Kathy was born in Sharon, PA on January 12, 1943 to Thomas B. and Agnes U. (Stem) Cagle.

She graduated with honors from Meadville High School in 1960, and went on to work at Channellock, Thayer Construction and was co-owner of Meadville Dairy Queen.

She had many hobbies including taking long walks, sewing, crafting and wintering in Florida. She especially enjoyed scrapbooking her precious grandchildren's lives, and any occasion was a wonderful time for a group photo.

A member of Meadville Alliance Church, she faithfully served her Lord as Deaconess, Sunday School teacher, and prayer warrior. She was a devoted Christian woman and was loved by all who knew her.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, Dave, whom she married on September 3, 1964; her daughter Julie Makepeace (William) of Meadville; her son Michael Thayer of Bristow, VA; six grandchildren Andrew Makepeace of Meadville, Ryan Makepeace (Cassandra) of Meadville, Dr. Joshua Makepeace (Nicole) of Charlottsville, VA, Alexandria Thayer of Bristow, VA, Justin Makepeace (Hayley) of Meadville, Autumn Thayer of Winchester, VA; and two great grandchildren Cali and Crosby, with two more joining the family this fall. Additional survivors include her brother Thomas Cagle (Debbie) of Saegertown; her sister Sharon "Dee-Dee" Hayek (Russ) of Meadville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.

While practicing social distancing, visitation will be held from 2-7 PM on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at Meadville Alliance Church, 660 N. Main Street, Meadville.

The Funeral Service will be Private with Pastor Jeff Conley officiating. Please be present in prayer. The service will be live streamed via our Facebook page (Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc.) on Wednesday at 11:00 AM.

Kathryn will be laid to rest in Greendale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial's to honor Kathy's memory may be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 766 Liberty St., Meadville, PA 16335.
