Agnes "Jane" Maietta

Agnes "Jane" Maietta, 75, of Saegertown, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Meadville Medical Center.

Jane was born at home in Townville, on October 27, 1940, a daughter of the late David Turner and Sarah Jane (Fiscus) Gillett.

On March 13, 1963, Jane married Anthony "Bing" Maietta; he survives.

She was a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, Meadville, and had also attended St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Cambridge Springs.

In 2001 Jane retired as Nurse Manager of the New Life Unit of Meadville Medical Center. Prior to becoming a registered nurse, Jane worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Meadville Medical Center. While doing so and raising her family, she attended Edinboro University and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 1984, graduating Cum Laude. She was a 1958 graduate of Townville High School. In her younger years Jane was a Den Mother and Scout Leader. She was an avid reader, especially of mystery novels and she liked working crossword puzzles. She enjoyed traveling having visited several states including Alaska and Hawaii, as well as Europe, The Caribbean, Italy and the Panama Canal. An animal lover, Jane's home was always open to strays. Jane had a deep love of children which made her nursing career in the New Life Unit a perfect fit. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

In addition to her husband, Anthony "Bing", of 53 years, Jane is survived by three children Lisa M. Kaufman of Saegertown, Anthony "Tony" Maietta of Los Angeles, CA, Laura Wright and her husband, Scott, of Cambridge Springs, four grandchildren Sarah Jane Wright, Matthew Scott Wright, Jacob Anthony Wright, Caroline Marie Kaufman, three brothers Edward Gillett of Pittsburgh, Richard Gillett of Saegertown, John Gillett and his wife Susan of Pittsburgh, many nieces and nephews.
