Alan M. Ladner, 69, of 15087 S. Norrisville Rd., Meadville, passed away at home on Sunday, March 18, 2012 from leukemia.
Alan was born in Meadville on November 13, 1942, a son of the late Stuart and Mildred (Johnston) Ladner.
On September 14, 1975 Alan married the love of his life, Laura Best; she survives.
In 1945 Alan and his family moved from Meadville to the country, where he met his lifelong friend David Brekenridge, with whom he grew up. Dave was somebody Alan could confide in and trust. Alan graduated from Meadville High School in 1962. He worked at Bethlehem Steel in Bethlehem, as a welder and at the former Avtex Fibers of Meadville before retiring from Molded Fiberglass of Linesville. In his younger years, he attended the United Presbyterian Church on the Harmonsburg Road and in later years he worshiped quietly by watching several ministries on TV.
In addition to his wife Laura, of 36, Alan is survived by his brother Scott Ladner and his wife Joyce, their children Tim Ladner and his wife Jeanne, Jodi Stevens and her husband Ken. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Florence Lowe, Frances Best, nieces and nephews Joe Lowe and his wife Becky, Tammy Hall and her fianc David Peters, Donald Best and his wife Cindy, Judy Galbo and her husband Matt, Jeff Best and his wife Nilsa, several great and great great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by aunts and uncles Helen and Ken Rupp, Marion and Clarence Jones, a brother-in-law Lawrence Best and his mother-in-law Loie E. Best Shaw.
At Alans request, there will be no calling hours or service; he prefers to leave this world quietly.
