Albert "Al" F. Nardi

Albert "Al" F. Nardi, 88, of 35634 Cypress Court, formerly of Meadville, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Florida Hospital Orlando, Orlando, FL.

Albert was born in Erie, on June 30, 1926, a son of the late Celestino and Loretta (Soscia) Nardi.

On March 10, 1945 Al married Josephine "Jo" Petruso; she preceded him in death on July 20, 2009.

He was a member of St. Mary of the Lakes Roman Catholic Church, Eustis, FL and while living in Meadville was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church.

Al retired from the former Conrail Railroad as an accountant and over the years he had been employed by the former Erie and Erie Lackawanna Railroads.  A WW II veteran, Al entered the US Army on November 6, 1944 and served his country until his honorable discharge on August 9, 1946.  

Al is survived by two daughters Barbara Kucharski and her husband David of Davidson, NC and Kathy Knapp and her husband Jerry of Lenexa, KS, three grandchildren Andrea Kenerly, Lauren Wilson and her husband Cole and their daughters Hadley and Reese, Jason Hannaman and his wife Blair and their two daughters Josephine and Marin, two sisters Anne Brink of Rapid City, SD, Marge Moffat of Cambridge Springs, three sisters-in-law Madelaine Damico,  Angie Petruso both of Meadville, and Virginia Petruso of Conneaut Lake, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his companion Georgia Borho and her daughter Carrie of Orlando, Florida.

In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his wife Josephine "Jo" of 64 years.

Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 5-8 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, with Fr. Johnathan Schmolt, Pastor, officiating.

Following Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006, Al will be laid to rest next to his wife Jo in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch Street, Meadville, PA 16335 or Florida Hospital Waterman Foundation, 1500 Waterman Way, Tavares, FL  32778.
