Alexander 'Alex' J. Tokarcik

Alexander 'Alex' J. Tokarcik, 69, of 9858 Krider Rd., Meadville, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011, at Meadville Medical Center.
Alex was born in Luzerne Twp., on July 11, 1941, a son of the late John A. and Mary (Congelio) Tokarcik.
In May, 1986 Alex married Eloise 'Elly' M. Phelps; she survives.
He was affiliated with St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.
After 39 years of service, Alex retired in 2004 from Seco/Warwick as an electrical engineer. Following his 1959 graduation from Meadville High School, Alex entered the US Navy on August 31, 1959 and served his country as an Aviation Electronics Technician until his honorable discharge on July 22, 1963. Upon his return from the Navy, Alex continued his education by graduating from the former Alliance College, Cambridge Springs, with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He was a member of the American Legion Post #111 of Meadville, a social member of Vernon Twp. Volunteer Fire Department and was proud to be a Pittsburgh Steeler fan. Alex loved traveling to different places, especially his Alaskan cruise. In his earlier years he enjoyed golfing. Blessed with a great mind and memory, Alex was also very loving and had a wonderful sense of humor. Alex cherished his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Elly of 24 years, Alex is survived by three children John A. Tokarcik and his wife Patty of Milton, FL, Mary Johnston and her companion Steve of Westminster, MD, Alicia Tokarcik and her companion Mike of Pittsburgh, four stepchildren Darlene Straw and her husband Doug of Greenville, William Heisey and his wife Diana, Robert Heisey and his companion Lynda both of Meadville, Markle Heisey and his friend Buffy of Conneautville, two grandchildren Seanasey, Racheal, several step grandchildren, several step great grandchildren and several cousins.
Alex was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut Street, Meadville, where a scripture service will be conducted at 7:45 PM.
Funeral Services, followed by Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006, will be held at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 23, 2011, with Fr. Raymond Gramata, Pastor of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
