Alyce Jean Williams, 70, of Meadville, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019, at Meadville Medical Center.
Alyce was born in Quincy, FL on February 8, 1949, a daughter of the late Millage and Bernice (Callaway) Bradwell.
On December 10, 1977 Alyce had married Edward Williams; he survives.
Alyce was an active member of St. John Missionary Full Gospel Baptist Church where she had served as a Sunday School Teacher and enjoyed praising her God.
From 1972-2011 Alyce was employed by Northwest Tri County IU #5. She began her career with them as a Speech Therapist where she worked with local elementary schools and the former Race Street School for 11 years before becoming a Special Education Teacher at Bethesda Lutheran Services for the next 28 years. She deeply cared for each and every student with which she worked. Over the years she volunteered countless hours tutoring and reading to children.
An eager learner, Alyce attended Kent State University and Allegheny College where she was a member of Kappa Gamma and served as Alumni Advisor. In 1971 she earned her BS in Speech Pathology and Audiology and in 1973 earned her Master's Degree in Special Education from Edinboro University.
Alyce enjoyed watching the news and soap operas especially The Bold and the Beautiful and The Guiding Light. She was an avid reader.
Alyce is survived by her beloved daughter Reagan S. Williams of Philadelphia, a brother Carl Bradwell (Jeannie) of New Albany, OH, a niece Courtney Bradwell, two nephews Carl and Mathew Bradwell, a cousin Sylvia Floyd Kennard of Delaware, and a great great aunt Mae.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Family and friends are invited to call from 10-12 on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where a Going Home Service will be held at 12:00 PM with Rev. Joel DiAngi officiating.
Alyce will be laid to rest in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Township.
A special thanks to Dr. L. Dade Lunsford and staff at UPMC and Dr. Jan Drappatz and staff at Hillman Cancer Center for the compassion and wonderful care they provided. A special thanks also to our friends from Northwest Tri County IU, Ed and Joanne McClay as well as to Delores Mosley, Rhonda Daniels, Maggie Gray, Angela Jones, Sylvia Floyd- Kennard, Clara Mack, Joyce Stevens and Ed Williams.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, 16792 Conneaut Lake Road, or Bethesda Lutheran Services, 15487 State Route 86, both in Meadville, PA 16335.
