Angeline Christine Furno, 90, of 635 6th Ave., New Kensington, formerly of 1143 Chula St., Meadville, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at home following a long battle with Parkinsons Disease.
Angeline was born in Meadville, on December 25, 1920, a daughter of the late Joseph and Martina (DeMarco) Simonette.
On January 14, 1939 Angeline married Frank R. Furno; he preceded her in death on November 17, 2000.
She was a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church and its Altar Rosary Society, where she volunteered her time in helping to clean the church.
A dedicated homemaker, Angeline enjoyed raising her children and later in life was employed by Crawford Central School District for 18 years, having retired in 1993. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Angeline will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother who loved not only her children, but everyones children.
Angeline is survived by two sons Dominic J. Furno and his wife Irene of Meadville, Frank F. Furno and his wife Marilyn of Conneaut Lake, three daughters Martha A. Dixon and her husband Bill of New Kensington, June M. Furno of Meadville, Dolores Christine Brunetti and her husband Bill of New Kensington with whom she resided for the past 18 months, 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, two sisters Rosemarie Palmiero of Meadville, Mary Rendulic of Conneautville, one brother Sam Simonette and his wife Kay of Meadville, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband Frank of 61 years, Angeline was preceded in death by a daughter Tina Furno Thompson, three sisters Madeline 'Anne' Gattuso, Josephine Furno, Antoinette Grippi, and a brother Joseph Simonette.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 5-8 PM at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a scripture service will be conducted at 6:30 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, PA, at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 16, 2011, with Fr. Raymond Gramata, Pastor of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
Entombment will take place in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
