Meadville, PA

Ann "Annagert" G. Findlay, 91, of Meadville, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Crawford County Care Center.

Ann was born in Meadville on March 5, 1933, the daughter of the late Louis and Rose (Bengivenga) Musica.

Ann was an upbeat and big hearted person who was always ready with a joke. She was proud of her Italian heritage and greatly esteemed her parents' and ancestors' work, sacrifice and struggle to establish themselves in America. She was a life-long resident of Meadville and an avid proponent of exercise, spending many hours at The Body Firm. A horse racing enthusiast, she learned how to handicap.

Along with her husband, Dick, whom she married in August, 1954, she enjoyed socializing at many of Meadville's social clubs. In addition to her cherished close family, she delighted in a very large extended family of aunts, uncles and second cousins (Musica and Bengivenga) and a similarly large extended in-law family (Findlay).

She was a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church and its Altar Rosary Society where she volunteered for several years on the Bereavement Committee.

From 1973 to 1986 she owned and operated, with her husband Dick, the former Gabby Ave. News store located on the corner of North and Liberty Street. Ann was a graduate of Meadville High School, class of 1951, a member of the Italian Civic Club and the Italian Civic Club Auxiliary. For 12 years, Ann was employed in the printing department of Allegheny College. She previously had been employed in the printing department for 9 1/2 years for the former Talon, Inc. and by the former Montgomery Ward department store for 12 years.

Ann is survived by three children Tom Findlay, Dan Findlay, Marcia Findlay and her husband Doug Mehan all of Meadville; two grandchildren Sasha Mehan of California, Sam Mehan of Oregon; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband of 53 years, Richard, who died in August, 2007, Ann was preceded in death by two sisters Marie Groves, Nancy Rice; two brothers Louis D. Musica and Anthony C. Musica.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, September 6, 2024, from 4-7 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where a scripture service will be conducted at 6:30 PM.

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, with Fr. Jeff Lucas, Pastor, officiating.

Ann will be laid to rest in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 766 Liberty Street, or The Epiphany of The Lord Parish Meadville, 353 Pine Street, both in Meadville, PA 16335.
