Anna S. Amato, 94, of 706 N. Morgan St., Meadville, passed away Tuesday, April 24th, 2012 at home.
Anna was born in Meadville on July 18, 1917, a daughter of the late Lorenzo and Olivia Stellato.
On June 1, 1935 Anna married Sam Amato; he preceded her in death on May 18, 2004.
She was a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society. In her earlier years she had been a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
After more than 25 years of service, Anna retired in July, 1979, from the former Talon, Inc. of Meadville where she had been employed in the Fastener Department. She attended Meadville elementary schools and Meadville High School. In her earlier years she enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, sewing and traveling. A very devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Annas family was always the most important part of her life. Throughout her life, her greatest joy came from being with them. Her love, determination and surviving spirit will live forever in the hearts of her two daughters, six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Anna is survived by two daughters Catherine Findlay and her husband Paul of Ashtabula, OH, Anna Petruolo and her husband Anthony of Meadville, six grandchildren Susan Bevevino and her husband Dan, Anthony Petruolo and his wife Kim, Annette Findlay, Barbara Welton and her husband David, Linda Denney, Stephen Findlay, twelve great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Sam of nearly 69 years, Anna was preceded in death by a son Vincent J. Amato, a great granddaughter Olivia Anne Bevevino, two brothers Marshall and Norman, two sisters Helen and Molly.
At the request of Anna, visitation will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
A Mass of Christian Burial that will celebrate Annas life will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 26, 2012, at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, with Fr. Johnathan Schmolt, Pastor of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
Entombment will take place in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Crawford County for the Hospice House, 464 Pine St., Meadville, PA 16335.
