Anthony "Bing" Maietta

Anthony "Bing" Maietta, 92, of Saegertown, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Wesbury United Methodist Community, surrounded by his family.

Anthony was born in Meadville, on December 1, 1926, a son of the late Angelo and Raphaela (Musica) Maietta.

On March 13, 1963, Bing married Agnes "Jane" Gillett; she preceded him in death on May 18, 2016.

He was a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church.

For more than 15 years, Bing owned and operated the former Maietta's News in Meadville, where he maintained a great rapport with his customers. He retired from PPG Industries where he had worked for ten years. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, Bing entered the US Army on January 2, 1951 and served his country honorably until his discharge on November 29, 1952. Over the years he had been a member of the Italian Civic Club (ICC), Wolves Club-Den XI, and the Meadville Eagles Club. Bing enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, working in his yard, harvesting his garlic and visiting the casinos. But nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his grandchildren. He will be missed.

Bing is survived by three children Lisa Kaufman of Saegertown, Anthony "Tony" Maietta of Los Angeles, CA, Laura Wright and her husband Scott of Cambridge Springs, four grandchildren Sarah Wright, Matthew Wright, Jacob Wright, Caroline Kaufman, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife Jane of 53 years, Bing was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Victoria Kaufman, and eleven siblings.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, from 5-8 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where a Scripture Service will be held at 7 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 8, at 10 AM at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, with Fr. Andrew Boyd, Parochial Vicar, officiating.

Bing will be laid to rest with his wife, Jane, in St. Brigid Cemetery with Full Military Honors by Cochranton American Legion Post #836.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Wesbury Benevolent Fund, 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, PA 16335.
