Anthony R. Boca, 71, of 1012 Stafford House, Meadville, passed away Wednesday, March 21st, 2012 at Meadville Medical Center, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Anthony was born in Meadville on February 3, 1941, a son of the late Francis J. and Carmella L. (DeMaggio-Musone) Boca.
On July 19, 1969 Anthony married Marilyn Thomas; she survives.
He was a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.
For more than 40 years, Anthony owned and operated Mr. Anthonys Beauty Salon. For more than 30 years, he held his real estate license, having worked for Howard Hanna Price Real Estate. A 1959 graduate of Meadville High School, Anthony was treasurer of his class and of his class reunion committee. A veteran, Anthony served his country in the US Army from May 3, 1962 until his honorable discharge on April 27, 1964. He was a member of VFW Post #2006, a former member of the ICC Club, Kiwanis Club and Vernon Central. Anthonys family was very important to him and he enjoyed attending the activities of his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Marilyn of 42 years, Anthony is survived by a son Anthony S. Boca and his wife Darla of Meadville, Stacie Boca Singletary and her husband Tracy of Meadville, four grandchildren Jacob, Jordan, Nick, Dakota, a sister Marie Boca Ott and her husband William of Conneaut Lake, his mother-in-law Anna Thomas of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, a sister-in-law Eileen Smith and her husband Ray of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, a niece Gina Guerrini Ferraro and her husband John, three nephews Richard Guerrini and his wife Lisa, Daniel Smith, Greg Smith and his wife Jackie, great nieces and great nephews.
Anthony was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 26, 2012, at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, with Fr. Marc Solomon, Pastor, officiating. Military Honors by VFW Post #2006 will follow.
Interment will take place in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, 16792 Conneaut Lake Road, Meadville, PA 16335.
