Astrid E. Welker Zurovchak

Astrid E. Welker Zurovchak, 91, of 20881 State Hwy. 198, Saegertown, formerly of 829 Grant St., Meadville, passed away Friday, May 14th, 2010 at Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown.
Astrid was born in Sylvan Grove, on September 30, 1918, a daughter of the late Floyd Robert and Mary (Bergius) Gustafson.
On April 12, 1975 Astrid married Paul Zurovchak; he preceded her in death. She previously had married Marlin Welker on June 26, 1938; he preceded her in death.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Meadville.
Astrid was employed as a seamstress for the former Weldons and the former Carlisles Dept. Store, both of Meadville. While living in Florida she worked with children, ages 3-4, in Head Start. Over the years, Astrid was a foster mother to more than 11 children. Her hobbies included sewing, cooking and decorating. She loved to be with her family. and her beloved dog Crystal.
Astrid is survived by six children Leonard Welker and his wife Mary Lou, Darlene Gehrt and her husband William, Paul J. Zurovchak and his wife Barbara all of Meadville, Jerry Arze and her husband Earnest of Las Vegas, NV, Margaret Ann Eaton and her husband Donald, Jeanette Williams and her husband Richard both of Conneaut Lake, 24 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, four nieces and four nephews.
In addition to her parents, husbands Paul Zurovchak and Marlin Welker, Astrid was preceded in death by a grandson James Morian, a sister Ruth Curley Vaughn, two brothers Carl and Evald Gustafson.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, May 16, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA 16335.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 17, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 649 Park Ave., Meadville, with Rev. Benjamin Travis, Pastor, officiating.
