Barbara Ann (McGahan) Morfenski, 81, of Huntsville, AL, died Thursday, March 28, 2019, at the Huntsville Hospital.
She was born on June 7, 1937, in Huntington, PA. She was a daughter of the late Lester and Agnas (Dempsey) McGahan.
She was married on November 8, 1969, in Phoenix, AZ, to Edward Morfenski sharing almost 50 years of marriage together. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church.
Barbara enjoyed traveling. She was married to a career military man and lived in Oxon Hill, MD, Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Huntsville, AL. She lived six years abroad in Spain on the Torrejón Air Force Base and became very fluent in the Spanish language. She worked eight years as an airline hostess and instructor before she married Ed. She worked 35 years as a federal civil service administrative assistant and intelligence analyst at various military bases. She enjoyed reading, playing the piano, organ, and electric keyboard, snow skiing, and dancing, especially ballroom dancing taking many lessons with Ed. She and Ed were regular karaoke singers. She baked many delicious desserts for the Huntsville Polish class.
She is survived by her loving husband Edward, sister-in-law Barbara (Bill) Byham of Meadville, brother-in-law David (Mary) Morfenski of Penn Run, sister-in-law Victoria Morfenski, sister-in-law Kathleen Morfenski, sister-in-law Teri Morfenski, all of Meadville, nephew Craig McGahan of Kansas City, MO, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many good close friends.
In addition to her parents Lester and Agnas (Dempsey) McGahan, she was preceded in death by her brother Robert McGahan, and brother-in-law Daniel J. Morfenski.
Friends and family are invited to call on Monday, April 8, from 3 to 5 PM at the STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, with a scripture service and praying of the rosary at 4:45 PM.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, April 9, at 10 AM at St. Brigid’s Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch Street, Meadville, with Rev. Jeffrey J. Lucas, Pastor, officiating. A luncheon will be provided at St. Brigid’s hall after the service.
Barbara will be laid to rest in St. Brigid cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Barbara’s name may be made to St. Brigid’s Church, 353 Pine Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
