Barbara G. Valella

Barbara G. Valella, 67, of 514 Deissler Ct., Meadville, passed away Friday, December 25, 2015, at Marquette Hospice House, surrounded by her family.

Barbara was born in Meadville, on July 6, 1948, a daughter of Hazel M. (Whitling) and the late Chester L. Whitmer.

On October 10, 2003, Barbara married John F. Valella; he preceded her in death on October 16, 2012.

For many years Barbara was employed by Lord Corporation in the Shipping Department where she worked with the importing and exporting of goods. She was raised in the Nazarene Church and was a 1966 graduate of Meadville High School. Her hobbies and interests included cooking, doing cross stitch, gardening and traveling with her late husband, John. Barbara was very kind and caring; she loved her nephew and all her nieces as if they were her own children.

Barbara is survived by her mother Hazel M. Whitmer, a sister Deborah M. Todd both of Galloway, OH, a brother Daniel L. Whitmer and his wife Tina of Clintonville, a nephew Jason Bisbee and his wife Kanitha, two nieces Kim Holcom, Sara Whitmer, a great nephew Tyler Holcom, Jr., a brother in law Vito Valella of Kalamazoo, MI and his five daughters Michelle Valella, Lisa Dougherty, Deborah Smith, Patti Valella and Christina Walker.

She was preceded in death by her father and her husband, John.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, December 28, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Family and friends are also invited to call on Tuesday from 10-11 AM at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM with Rev. Marshall Lillie, Pastor of Conneaut Valley Church of the Nazarene, and Chaplain of Hospice of Crawford County, officiating.

Barb will be laid to rest next to her husband, John, in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
