Barbara Lee Goza, 77, died on December 26, 2022, at home surrounded by her family.
She was born April 13, 1945, in Meadville, PA to Evron and Leona (Wallace) Householder.
She grew up as a farm girl doing chores on her family dairy farm near Saegertown, PA.
She married Granville B. Goza, III November 4, 1967. They had three children: Granville B. Goza, IV, Jeffery Scott, and Cheryl Leigh Goza (King).
After graduating from Saegertown High School in 1963, she joined the USAF. After training, she held a number of positions at the Sheppard AFB hospital in Wichita Falls, TX. While there she found time to do 6 sky diving jumps and drive a friend’s MG in local Powder Puff Derbies. She met her husband during this time. She married Granville after his tour in Vietnam. Upon completion of her service, she joined her husband in his military career. Their travels included Louisiana, Texas, New Jersey, and Germany. In Europe, she visited numerous countries. Skiing in Austria, camping on the Spanish coast, cooking school in France, rode the Troop Train to East Berlin during the Cold War and going through Check Point Charlie in 1973 (Berlin Wall).
Barbara was an elegant lady known for her high heels. She was the mainstay of the family, keeping everything organized during moves and having three children during hectic times. Upon returning to Saegertown in 1976, she was the family driver getting everyone to work, schools, and their many activities and she found time to work at GNC, the old Days Inn and she was an award-winning AVON salesperson. When she took on any task, you would know it was done well and complete. In later years she would take on driving her husband to numerous military reunions throughout the country. The only two states she missed driving in were Maine and Alaska. She enjoyed meeting and getting to know many people at these reunions and participating in many different activities.
Barbara enjoyed sewing and hosting several family picnics each year and supporting her husband’s activities. She was a talented person and she enjoyed oil and water painting, gardening, horseback riding, and ballroom dancing with her husband. She really went big time in holiday decorating and had an outside lighting display that the community looked forward to seeing during the Christmas season. She was also a very good bowler in Europe and here. Barbara was also strong in that she survived an aggressive form of lymphoma after about 500 hours of chemo in three months. Barbara loved and was very proud of her children and grandchildren and their successes in life. Most of the time she had to go to Texas or California to see them, only a granddaughter locally.
Barbara was a member of the Saegertown American Legion, an associate member of Post 2006, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a member of Wayland Baptist Church.
She was predeceased by her parents Evron and Leona Householder.
She is survived by her husband Granville; three children Granville B. Goza, IV (wife Robin), Jeffery Scott Goza (wife Sandra), and Cheryl Leigh King (husband Jon); grandchildren- Bridget Starr Gill (husband Tyler), Granville B. Goza V, Nathanael D. Goza, Griffin D.
