Beatrice Arlene Ellis

Beatrice Arlene Ellis, 87, of 659 William St., Meadville, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017, at Meadville Medical Center.

Arlene was born at home in E. Fallowfield Township, on August 16, 1930, a daughter of the late William F. and Estelle (Markham) Wilson.

On March 27, 1948 Arlene married James C. Ellis; he preceded her in death on April 20, 2004.

She was of the Methodist faith.

Over the years Arlene was employed at various places. While living in Texas she had been employed as the Chairperson of the Bell County Multiple Sclerosis Organization and was active with the ARC of Houston, TX. Here in Crawford County she had been employed by PennDot, at the Court House and the Northwest PA Unit of Multiple Sclerosis Organization where she was the Executive Director. Arlene's interests were many. In her younger years she, along with her husband, was an avid dancer. Together they appeared on television dancing. In her 20's she became a pilot and loved flying. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her, especially the staff in the Clerk of Courts office at the County Court House, with whom she remained very close.

Arlene is survived by two daughters Cheryl Ross of Meadville, Holly Koeppe of E. Syracuse, NY, a son James Keith Ellis and his wife Christa of Eltville, Germany, six grandchildren, three step grandchildren, two great granddaughters, two great grandsons, two step great grandchildren, three nieces and a nephew.

In addition to her parents and husband, James, of 56 years, Arlene was preceded in death by a sister Patricia Cutlip.

Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 3-5 at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 1 PM with Rev. Rebecca Patterson, Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church officiating

Arlene will be laid to rest next to her husband, James, in Venango Cemetery.
