Beatrice 'Bea' M. Sherry, 94, of 828 Water Street, Meadville, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014, after a brief battle following a stroke, at the Marquette Hospice House, where she received wonderful care in her last days. Her children and grandchildren were by her side.
Bea was born in Meadville, on May 1, 1920, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Limano) Spinnato.
On September 27, 1940 Bea married Joseph S. Sherry; he preceded her in death on January 18, 1980.
She was a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society.
In her younger years Bea owned and operated the former Texas Lunch Restaurant in Meadville and later was the Manager and one of the owners of Perkins Family Restaurant for a number of years. Additionally she was formerly the owner of Sherrys Beer Distributors, now owned and operated by her sons. Bea was a 1939 graduate of Meadville High School. She was a member of the Sertoma Club Auxiliary and Italian Civic Club Auxiliary where she served as treasurer for many years. Bea enjoyed playing cards, going out to dinner, traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was loved by all and will be sadly missed.
Bea is survived by three children Joseph A. Sherry and his wife Patricia of Conneaut Lake, Christine Sherry Gravatte and her husband Dewey of Greenville, Steven A. Sherry and his wife Lu Ann of Conneaut Lake, six grandchildren Craig Gump and his wife Laurie of Meadville, Joseph Sherry, Jr. and his wife Larissa of Jamestown, Dina Pocza and her husband Lon of West Middlesex, Dean Gravatte of Hermitage, Chanelle Lucas and her husband Mike of Meadville, Tony Sherry and his wife Laura of Conneaut Lake, ten great grandchildren, a brother Peter Spinnato of Meadville, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband Joseph of 40 years, Bea was preceded in death by a brother Sam Spinnato, two sisters Ann LaCorte and Grace Spinnato.
Family and friends are invited to call Tuesday, July 8 from 2-7 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a scripture service will be conducted at 6:30 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, at 10:00 AM, with Fr. Johnathan Schmolt, Pastor of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
Bea will be laid to rest next to her husband, Joseph, in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Vernon Twp.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Marquette Hospice House, 13465 N. Wayland Rd., Meadville, PA 16335.
