Benjamin 'Bob' S. Roth, 87, of 13649 St. Hwy. 198 Conneautville, passed away Monday, May 16th, at Meadville Medical Center.Benjamin was born in Cleveland, OH on September 5, 1923, a son of the late Abraham and Tillie (Herskowitz) Roth.On June 7, 1958 Benjamin married Lois Ann Ulrich at the Hickory Methodist Church; she survives.Following his graduation from Shaker Heights High School in 1941, Benjamin furthered his education by attending Miami University of Ohio for the next two years. Entering the US Navy Air Force in 1943, Benjamin went on to serve his country during WW II as an aerial gunner. Receiving his honorable discharge in 1946, Benjamin continued his education by graduating from Western Reserve in 1947 and from Western Reserve Law School in 1949.In 1956, Benjamin started his career for the US Treasury, as an attorney in the Estate and Gift Tax Department. Most of his time was spent in the Cleveland office until he transferred to Erie in 1975, where he worked until he retired in 1990. While living in Cleveland, Benjamin volunteered with the Jewish Big Brothers and coached baseball for the Tris Speaker Little League.His hobbies included working in his orchard, growing apples, peaches, pears and nut trees. He will be remembered for his self-taught wine making skills.In addition to his wife Lois of 52 years Benjamin is survived by four children, William A. Roth and his wife Linda of Conneautville, Linda S. Wetsell and her husband David of Saegertown, Robert L. Roth and his wife Emily of Brandon, VT and Barb Hasenkopf and her husband Barry of Lawrenceville, GA, five grandchildren Tim and Ben Wetsell, Abby, Lilly and Jack Hasenkopf, four step-grandchildren Becky, Candi, Chris and David, two sisters Patricia Howard, Shirley Bernon both of Cleveland, two sisters-in-law Ida Roth of Twinsburg, OH, Kelly Roth of Baltimore, MD, several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Dr. Harold Roth and Dr. David Roth.At the familys request there will be no visitationA Memorial Service will be conducted at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Meadville, at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 21st.At the families request, no flowers.
