Bernard 'Bernie' H. Seigworth, 85, of 13557 Wolf Rd., Guys Mills, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014, at home.

Bernie was born in Clarion, on July 4, 1928, a son of the late Clarence and Elisebeth (Donohue) Seigworth.

On July 14, 1955, Bernie married Lucille A. Shumaker; she preceded him in death on August 28, 2007.

He was a member of Lyona Bible Church, Guys Mills.

At the young age of 14, Bernie began driving trucks and later became a self employed turck driver, retiring in 1998. During his 56 year career, he drove throughout the entire US and most of Canada. Additionally he enjoyed farming; growing vegetables, raising cattle, pigs and chickens. A veteran of the US Army, he served during the Korean Conflict. He attended schools in Clarion. Bernie was a member of Venango VFW Post #169 and Saegertown American Legion Post #205. His hobbies included working on cars. A very giving man, Bernie was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Bernie was deeply loved and respected by his family. He be remembered as a very special husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be sadly missed.

Bernie is survived by a son Douglas W. Seigworth, a daughter Melinda Bish, both of Meadville, three grandchildren Danielle Stevens and her husband Ryan, Heather Beck and her husband Todd, Shane Knapp and his wife Jessica Meeker, eight great grandchildren Haley, Madison, Ryliegh, Dawson, Charelsie, Brayden, Avery, Owyn, three sisters, a brother, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife Lucille of 52 years, Bernie was preceded in death by infant twin daughters Sylvia Jane and Sonia Lee Seigworth, a great grandson Dustin Beck and three brothers.

Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, from 5-7 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM with Michael Fraser, Pastor, of Lyona Bible Church officiating. Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006 will follow.

Bernie will be laid to rest next to his wife, Lucille, in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Vernon Twp.
