Berniece Marie (McGill) Auell passed away Saturday, September 23rd, peacefully at home at the age 92.
She was the daughter of Frank Carl McGill and Myrtle Beers McGill, born February 6, 1931 in Meadville, PA.
Berniece spent most of her life as a military spouse in faithful service to her family. She was a lifetime member of the Saegertown United Methodist Church and sang in the choir for many years. Berniece was valedictorian of her high school class of 1948 in Saegertown, PA and graduated from the Pennsylvania School of Music. As an accomplished classical pianist, Berenice taught piano lessons from her home for many years. She married William John Auell Sr., and they were married for 35 years. She then spent 25 years with her fiancé Jim McElry and their two cats Alabama (Bammy) and Scooter, the loves of their lives. Berniece was an avid bridge player; she and Jim won the Canadian-American Bridge Championship amongst many other victories. Berniece enjoyed an active lifestyle; travel, walking, camping, fishing, horse back riding, and playing train, spades and scrabble with her family were among her many hobbies. She spoke often of her favorite travel memory being a Hawaiian Pig luau. Berniece was a precious example of a life well lived and was cherished by all.
She is survived by her four children; Catharine Auell Walker-Mappes (Frank) of Montague, NJ, William Auell Jr. (Sheree) of Saegertown, Michael Auell (Ana Lucia) of Warren, PA, David Auell of Saegertown, grandchildren; Adam Auell (Jessica), Rebecca Walker, Patrick Auell (Melissa), Andrea Walker Rose, Megan Auell Gough (Adam), Shannon Auell Regan (Matthew), Olivia Auell (Alex), Lynsey Auell, Andrew Auell (Andreana), Natalie Auell and Alaina Auell as well as 12 great grandchildren. In addition to her grandchildren, she was beloved by many nieces, nephews and community members.
She was predeceased by her parents, baby brother, Donnie McGill and sister Joyce Haemer.
There will be no funeral or services, a private memorial will take place as her wish was to have her body donated to medical research.
