Betty Downey

Betty Downey, 81, of 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, passed away Monday, February 7, 2011 at Wesbury United Methodist Community.
Betty was born in Meadville on February 14, 1929, a daughter of the late Bert Lowery Sample and Edna Margaret (Willison) Sample.
In 1990 Betty married Richard Downey; he preceded her in death in 1999. She had previously married Robert Brown in 1953; he preceded her in death in 1987.
For twenty years Betty had been employed by the former H. L. Moore Co., of Cochranton, now known as Morco. She was a 1947 graduate of Cochranton High School.
Betty is survived by a sister Janet Mailliard of Meadville, a sister-in-law Vinnie Sample of FL, 16 nieces and nephews, one step-niece, 22 great nieces and nephews, 14 great great nieces and nephews and 4 great great great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands and parents, Betty was preceded in death by two sisters Florence Smith, Ruth Frisina and a brother Robert Sample.
At the familys request, there will be no public visitation or services.
