Betty Jane Brewster

Betty Jane Lindsay Brewster, 98, of Saegertown, formerly of Meadville, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at the Crawford County Care Center.

Betty was born in Meadville, on April 25, 1923, the daughter of the late Clarence E. and Estella B. (Penman) Chinn.

On June 21, 1975, Betty married Harry "Buster" C. Brewster; he preceded her in death on June 6, 2002. She had previously married Andrew J. Lindsay in June of 1946; he predeceased her in 1972.

Betty graduated from Meadville High School in 1942. She was affiliated with Bethel AME Church in her earlier years where she was a member of the Booster Club, Women's Chorus and the Stewardess Board. She had also been affiliated with First Christian Church. Betty was employed by the former Crawford Store for eleven years and retired from Meadville Medical Center in 1985 where she served as a Nursing Assistant and an EEG/ EKG Technician. A member and Worthy Matron of Abigail Chapter #22 from 1989-1991, she also served as Loyal Lady Ruler of MET Carroll Assembly #62, Golden Circle, PHA, PA and was the former Dean of the School of Instruction of the Eighth OES District. Betty was a charter member of Pharoah Court #196 A.E.O.N.M.S. and the Town Club. Her hobbies included quilting, traveling and her greatest joy was being with family.

Betty is survived by two children Leige Lindsay and Carol Lindsay both of Meadville; two grandchildren Leandra Walter, Armond Walter; host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Betty was preceded in death three brothers Charles, Horace "Bud" and LeRoy Chinn; three sisters Gladys V. Carpenter, Naomi Peach and Byrdie Butterfield.

Family and friends are invited to call from 12-2 PM on Sunday, May 23, 2021, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where a Going Home Service will be held at 2 PM with Rev. Beverly Williams officiating.

Betty will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
