Booker T. Pope

Booker T. Pope, 78, of 5700 Karl Rd., Columbus, OH, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015, at Villa Angela Care Center, Columbus, OH.

Booker was born in Como, MS on March 15, 1937, a son of the late Thelman and Luella (Ramsey) Pope.

A hard worker all of his life, Booker was employed as a master mason. Over the years he had done work with Bruno Harris, his brothers and was also self-employed. In his younger years, he did farm work. He enjoyed both vegetable and flower gardening as well as doing yard work. He took great pride in his work and it was meticulous. Booker delighted in being around his family and always had a special love for the family babies. His old fashioned wisdom will be missed.

Booker is survived by seven children Shelia Boozer and her husband Derreck of Columbus, OH, Clara Pope of Huntsville, AL, Booker T. Pope III, Lamone Pope both of Erie, Joseph Smith of Memphis, TN, Booker Smith of TN, Sharon Pope of Coldwater, MS, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, a sister Bobbie Hillard of Erie, brothers Eddie B. Mitchell and his wife Erma of Coldwater, MS, Truman Boyd and his wife Mattie of Meadville, Albert C. Boyd of Erie, J. B. Boyd of Meadville, Elijah Boyd and his wife Theresa of Erie, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Booker was preceded in death by a daughter Lorraine Pope, a son Monroe Pope, a sister Mae Katherine Leverson, four brothers Hubert Pope, J. Q. Pope, George Boyd, Jr. and Bob Boyd.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, June 26, 2015, from 12:00-1:00 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM.

Booker will be laid to rest in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
