Brian A. Shawl, 53, of 209 Spring Street Meadville, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Meadville Medical Center.
Brian was born in Meadvilleon September 13, 1960, a son of the late Dorothy (Locke) and Reuel E. Shawl.
Brian was employed by Vallonia Industries for several years. He was a member of the Drop In Center at the ARC and the Meadville Eagles #429 where he enjoyed mingling every Friday. Brian always carried his weather scanner, and was fond of keeping people updated on the latest weather coverage. Occasionally, Brian would be seen volunteering at the local soup kitchen. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and Pirates fan and took great delight in doing word searches, playing Bingo, drinking coffee and eating sweets. Brian enjoyed living his life independently and often rode the CATA bus. Brian had a gentle soul and liked to meet new people, he especially enjoyed being able to socialize with the ladies. He will be missed by his many friends and housemates at the Carousel House as well as his many friends at the ARC.
Brian is survived by a sister Linda Lee Shawl of Meadville, an aunt Gladys Davis of Cambridge Springs and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, May 19 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM with Randy Gorske, officiating.
Brian will be laid to rest in Saegertown Cemetery.
