Bruce 'H.B.' E. Nichols, Sr., 81, of 18085 Turner Rd., Meadville, passed away Sunday, February 26th, 2012, surrounded by his loving family at UPMC-Hamot Medical Center, Erie.
Bruce was born in Meadville on February 22, 1931, a son of the late Robert and Iva (Hood) Nichols.
On July 14, 1960 Bruce married Rosie Marie Locke; she preceded him in death on January 28, 2008.
He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Meadville.
Bruce retired from the former Meadville Mallable after several years of service. He had previously been employed by Frontier Homes. A US Army veteran, Bruce served during the Korean Conflict from September 5, 1950 until his honorable discharge on June 20, 1952. He attended Meadville schools. A huge sports fan, Bruce especially enjoyed following the Chicago Bears. He also enjoyed gardening and visiting casinos. Bruce has always been and will always be adored, respected and loved by his whole family.
Bruce is survived by seven children Bruce E. Nichols, Jr. and his wife Carolyn of Meadville, David Earl Jacobs and his wife Mary Beth of Conneaut Lake, Allen C. Jacobs and his wife Joyce of Atlantic, Rose Marie Nichols of Erie, Julie Chimiak and her companion Chip Higgins of Linesville, Diane L. Walker and her husband Philip of Meadville with whom he lived the past four years, Sharon L. Krider and her husband John of Meadville, 14 grandchildren Timothy Jacobs, Dr. Daniel Jacobs, Kristie Wilpula, Michael Jacobs, Jessica Burr, Deanna, Brian and Tanya Walker, Breanne Nichols, Stephen and Ryan Krider, Tony Feleppa, Krissy and Kayla Nichols, twelve great grandchildren Kayla and Austin Jacobs, Matthew and Alex Wilpula, Aden, Christopher and Justin Burr, Anthony Feleppa, Mariyah Nichols, Victor Cafaro, Kyla Walker, Ava Carpin, a sister Iva Lee Nichols of Erie, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, and his wife Rosie of 47 years, Bruce was preceded in death by a granddaughter Kelly Jacobs and a brother Howard E. Nichols.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
Funeral Services will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church, 140 Wadsworth Ave., Meadville, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 29th, 2012, with Rev. Robert Fuller, Pastor, officiating.
Interment with Full Military Honors will take place in Rundeltown Cemetery.
