Carie B. 'Madea' Jonea

Carie B. 'Madea' Jones, 96, of 1060 Liberty St., Meadville, passed away Friday, January 24, 2014 at the home of her daughter, Lula at 1215 Elm St., Meadville.

Carie was born in Coldwater, MS on May 15, 1917, a daughter of the late Ice Hunt.

Carie married Matt Jones; he preceded her in death.

Carie was a hard working homemaker who enjoyed sewing, cooking and caring for her family. She also enjoyed watching The Price is Right and following the Pittsburgh news. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Carie is survived by six children Ernestine Jones of Meadville, Lawrence Jones of Memphis, TN, Mattie Boyd and her husband Truman of Meadville, Lula Jones, Mary Jones, Henry Jones all of Meadville, 18 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Carie was preceded in death by a daughter Lessie Cathey.

Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, February 1, 2014, from 11-1 at United Faith Fellowship Church, 561 State St., Meadville, where a Homecoming Service will be held at 1:00 PM with Rev. Marvin Burnett and Rev. Beverly Williams officiating.

Interment will take place in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.

Arrangements are under the direction of Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
