Carl L. Ferry, 83, of Meadville, passed away Monday, October 7, 2024 at home.

Carl was born in Meadville, on July 4, 1941, a son of the late Harley and Mae (Kightlinger) Ferry.

On August 31, 1963, Carl married Marguerite I. Weaver; she survives. 

Carl attended New Beginnings Church and previously was a member of the former St. John's Church on the Mercer Pike.

Carl had a long career with the railroad, beginning at Erie Lackawanna Railroad before it became Conrail, and retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad in 2001. Additionally he raised and cared for several foster children and worked on the family beef farm A veteran, Carl entered the US Marines on October 9, 1958 and served his country honorably until August 3, 1962. He was a 45+ year member of American Legion. Following his retirement, Carl and his wife enjoyed living in North Carolina for 20 years before moving back to Meadville. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and woodworking. 

In addition to his wife, Marguerite, of 61 years, Carl is survived by three children Mary Eddy (Scott), Sue Stein (Russell), Roger Ferry, all of Meadville, several grand and great grandchildren; his adopted children Desiree, Erin, Jennifer, Stephany, Rebecca, Annie; two brothers Floyd Ferry (Melody), Steve Ferry (Patricia); sisters in law Letha Smith, Donna Ferry, Sandy Ferry all of Meadville, sister in law Laurale Ferry of FL; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by siblings Virginia Hope, Leroy Ferry, Wayne Ferry, Robert Ferry and half brother Harold Smith.

Family and friends are invited to call from 3-6 PM on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at New Beginnings Church, 13226 Leslie Rd., Meadville, where Funeral Services will follow at 6 PM with Pastor Keith Mitchell, officiating.

Carl will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Gardens at 9:30 AM on Friday, with Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of Crawford County and the Crawford County Veteran's Office, for all the help they provided.

Memorial contributions may be made in Carl's memory to a charity of the donor's choice.
