Catherine 'Katie' Deangio

Catherine 'Katie' DeAngio, 92, of 5053 Hillsdale Ave., Erie, formerly of 1060 Market St., Meadville, passed away Saturday, April 21st, 2012 at St. Vincent Health System, Erie.
Katie was born in Toms Creek, VA on December 14, 1919, a daughter of the late Pietro and Antoinette (Corelli) Fera.
She was a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, Meadville, and the Altar Rosary Society.
After 25 years of service, Katie retired from the former Spencer Hospital of Meadville, where she had been employed as a cook from 1961 until 1986. She had been a member of the Italian Civic Club (ICC) Auxiliary. Her hobbies included crocheting.
Katie is survived by two sons James Anthony DeAngio and his wife Julie of Valley City, ND, Gary Michael DeAngio and his wife Annette of Erie, a daughter Madeline Ann DeAngio of Summerville, SC, nine grandchildren Lauri, Jim, Lisa, LeAnn, John, Cathy, Matthew, Stacie, Megan, 14 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, one sister Frances Best of Meadville, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Katie was preceded in death by a son Samuel DeAngio, a grandson Jay Allen DeAngio, two sisters Mary Petruso, Elizabeth SanFelice, six brothers Paul, Peter, Dominic, Nicholas, Gregory and Anthony Fera, and a daughter-in-law JoAnn DeAngio.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 5-8 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a scripture service will be conducted at 6:30 PM and a time of sharing will take place at 7:30 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, with Fr. Matthew Kujawinski, Pastor of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
Interment will take place in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
