Chalmer "Chal" C. Jordan, 87, of Saegertown, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Chalmer was born in Fishertown PA, on August 31, 1930, a son of the late Daniel O. and Leota E. (Daniels) Jordan.
On March 3, 1951 Chal married Evelyn Marie Theuret; she preceded him in death on March 6, 2017.
He was a member of Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church, Saegertown.
Following his 1949 graduation from Saegertown High School, Chal began a tool making apprenticeship at the former Talon, Inc. which was interrupted by two years of honorable service in the US Army. At the age of 26 he started LCB Tooling, along with two coworkers. Within a few years, this venture spawned Saegertown Components which resulted in building two additional plants. In 1961 the business partners sold all of the businesses and Chal retired at the age of 34. Subsequently, he founded Saegertown Manufacturing. It was not long before Chal developed methods and patents for manufacturing which resulted in the growth of Saegertown Manufacturing to over 250 full time employees.
A strong supporter of the community, Chal served on countless boards in the Saegertown and Meadville communities. He was honored with the Winslow Award in 1988. He and Evelyn established the Jordan Family Foundation, making Saegertown a better place to live and work while demonstrating and promoting civic pride. In addition he and Evelyn were responsible for establishing the Evelyn and Chalmer Jordan Scholarship Fund. Chal enjoyed boating as well as fishing with his family, and was a long time member of Erie Yacht Club. An outdoors man, he appreciated nature and its surroundings. He loved traveling throughout the world with a group of close friends.
Chalmer is survived by three daughters Deborah Kapusta and her husband Thomas of Meadville, Susan Walker and her husband Everett of Erie, Lynn "Sam" Deichman and her husband Mark of Englewood, FL, four grandchildren Evelyn Pacitti and her husband Antony, Ann Kapusta and Adam LaVoy, Jordan Walker, Halle Walker, two sisters Hazel June Wade of Newaygo, MI, Faye L. Kleckner of Warren PA, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Evelyn, of 66 years, Chal was preceded in death by a sister Ardith Lingo.
Family and friends of Chal and Evelyn are invited to call on Sunday, August 26, from 2-4 at Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church, 358 Euclid Ave., Saegertown, where Funeral Services for both Chal and Evelyn will be held at 4:00 PM with Rev. Mark Fischer, Pastor, officiating.
Chal and Evelyn will privately be laid to rest in Saegertown Cemetery where Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006 will take place.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 766 Liberty St., Meadville, PA 16335 or a charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangement are under the direction of STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 330 BROAD ST., SAEGERTOWN.
