Charles "Chuck" Edward Black

Charles Edward (Chuck) Black, 88, formerly of State Highway 86, Saegertown, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at Crawford County Care Center.

Charles was born in Meadville, on April 13, 1932, a son of the late Roy "Pappy" and Margaret Elizabeth (George) Black.

On April 16, 1955 Chuck married Joan V. Dronko; she preceded him in death on July 31, 2008

He had attended St. Bernadette's Church with his wife. Chuck enjoyed being a life long dairy farming until September 4, 2009 when he sold his farm. He was a member of Erie/Crawford Cooperative, Milk Marketing Inc. (MMI), and of National, County and State Holstein Association; and was inducted into the Crawford County Hall of Fame. Chuck served on the Board of Directors for COBA/Select Sires, Inc. as well as for Dairy Heard Improvement Association (DHIA) and was a member of Blooming Valley 4-H. A hard worker all of his life, Chuck loved all things relating to dairy farming.

Charles is survived by a son David Charles Black of Meadville, two sisters Shirley Manross (Gene) of Saegertown, Betty Bisbee of Cambridge Springs, two brothers Richard Black (Jean) of Meadville, William "Bill" (Pam), of Saegertown, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Joan, of 53 years, Charles was preceded in death by an infant son Russell and an infant daughter Judy Ann.

While following CDC guidelines, visitation will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2020, from 12-2 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, with the Funeral Service following at 2 PM, with Pastor Norman Aabye of Open Door Baptist Church, Venango, officiating.

Chuck will be laid to rest next to his wife, Joan, in St. Brigid Cemetery.
