Charlotte L. Free

Charlotte L. Free, age 97, formerly of 419 Washington St., Saegertown, passed away on Monday, April, 17, 2017 at the Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown.

Born on March 8, 1920 in Meadville, the daughter of Roy and Helen (Sherman) Peters.

Charlotte married the love of her life, Charles Free on June 28, 1941. They spent over 51 wonderful years together. He preceded her in death November 13, 1992.

Charlotte was a life long resident of Saegertown. She graduated from Saegertown High School and then went on to earn a hair dressing degree from a Beauty School in Erie. Charlotte was a member of the Saegertown United Methodist Church. Charlotte always enjoyed spending time with her dear friends playing cards, especially bridge. She enjoyed using her degree by giving Toni permanents to all her family and friends. She also spent many years volunteering her time as a Red Coat at Meadville Medical Center. Charlotte was also a member of the Eastern Star, Rebecca Lodge, Saegertown Women’s Improvement Club, Saegertown Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and the Young at Heart. One of her greatest joys was the time that she spent with her beloved family in both Pennsylvania and winters in Florida. She enjoyed dinners and picnics with family and friends. She was always willing to open her home to entertain dinner parties.

She will be sadly missed and leaves behind her daughter Cheryl Schlosser and her husband Duane of Saegertown; grandchildren: Duane Schlosser Jr. of Clearwater FL, Dawn Pavlik of Saegertown, Diane Schlosser of Cambridge Springs, Kymm Fox and her husband Jim of West Palm Beach FL and Randy Free of North Carolina; Great grandchildren: Dustin and Trevor Pavlik of Saegertown, Jake and Sydney Fox of West Palm Beach, FL.

In addition to her husband, Charles, and her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her loving son Charles Free (August 2007) and his wife Sandra (Hinkson) Free (July 2014) and her brother Neil Peters.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 12:30-2:30 at Saegertown United Methodist Church, 620 Euclid Ave., Saegertown, where Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 PM with Rev. Darrell L. Greenawalt, Pastor, officiating.

Charlotte will be laid to rest next to her husband, Charles, in Saegertown Cemetery.
