Clara McCarney, of Port St Lucie, Florida passed away Saturday morning unexpectedly in Flagler Beach, Florida.
Clara was born in Jersey City, NJ on August 26, 1943 to the late John A. Jodzio and Sophia Claire Pienkowski.
She married John McCarney in Jersey City, NJ on April 23rd, 1967. She was working for a bank in New York City when they met. John and Clara moved to Meadville, PA in 1972 so they could open up the town's first McDonald’s restaurant, where she worked in the family business. Even though John and Clara divorced in 2006, they remained connected through their family and friends.
Clara enjoyed traveling to places such as Tanzania, Turkey, Italy, Greece, Australia and New Zealand. She especially loved to spend time with her five grandchildren and traveled often just to see them. She loved gardening, cats and spending time with friends. She had a strong traditional Catholic faith, and prayed often to St. Jude. She was known for her kindness and generosity. She had a knack for giving before being asked and anticipating people’s needs. She loved to give unconditionally and was always considerate of others, including those she did not know.
She was preceded in death by her brother Thomas Jodzio.
She is survived by her sons and their wives Jim and Michelle McCarney of Meadville, Mike and Teresa McCarney of Burlington, VT, her grandchildren Anna, Ryan, Jack, Finn and Lucie, her sister, Veronica Estvander, and ex-husband, John McCarney.
