Connie Helen Williams, 92, came from God on March 7, 1930 and returned to God on September 30, 2022.
She was born in Washington, DC, daughter of the late Admiral George P. and Helen (Bresnahan) Kraker. As the daughter of a career naval officer, they traveled from one coast to the other, following her father's assignments with the Navy, attending many different schools in different states.
She graduated in 1947 from St. Mary's Academy in Indianapolis, IN. While attending Marian College in Indianapolis, she met her husband to be, Jim Williams, a Purdue University graduate. They were married in Albuquerque, NM, on September 2, 1950. After eight years of various moves in the Chicago area with a short stop in Detroit, MI, they settled in Meadville in September, 1958, where Jim was employed with the former Sunbeam Equipment Company; they remained in Meadville ever since.
Connie was active in the community when all of her children were in school. She was a Red Cross Water Safety instructor, life guard and teacher of many swim classes at both the YMCA and YWCA, as well as serving on both Board of Directors. She also served on the Board of Directors at the former Hillside Home and American Red Cross. A 45 year member of Meadville Garden Club, she worked and participated in all of the Trees of Christmas projects. As a very active member of St. Brigid's Church, she was an Eucharist Minister administering Holy Communion at nursing homes, parishioner's homes and Church. She was also a lector and former member of the funeral choir. With other parishioners, she helped with the decorating of the Church of all the holidays for 25 years.
In 1991 Connie and her husband, Jim, had the special honor of being chosen as a couple to receive the Service Above Self, Person of the Year Award, given by the Rotary Club of Meadville. Connie was an avid bridge player participating with four different groups, loved her flower gardens, feeding the birds and traveling with family, and in later years, with her widow friends, especially cruising.
She is survived by four children, Kathy Kenny, Peggy Chidester (Mark), Linda Fratantoni (Sal), Mike Williams (Kendra Pearson); grandchildren Laura and Maureen Kenny, Sophie and Annie Fratantoni, Matthew Williams (Tricia); great grandchild Veralyn Williams.
In addition to her parents, and her husband, Jim, who passed away in 1997, Connie was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura, in 1963, who was Linda's twin, her brother, Pat, in 2015 and her son in law, Dan Kenny, in 2017.
Family and friends are invited to call from 9:30 AM -10:30 on Friday at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, where a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM with Fr.
