Cynthia Roberts Burton

Cynthia Roberts Burton, 69, a 40-year resident of Meadville, PA passed away on March 16, 2021 due to complications of diabetes.

Cynthia was born in Chicago, IL, and grew up in Denver, CO. She graduated from Macalester College in Minnesota where she studied French, and received a Masters’s degree in Library Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Cynthia worked at Allegheny College as a Reference Librarian. She was a member of the Unitarian Church in Meadville and the Prairie Club of Chicago.

Cynthia was a cellist and a great lover of dogs, music, art, reading, and travel. She had a contagious laugh, a ready smile, and a great mind. She was blessed with many lifelong friendships.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents Marion and George Burton and is survived by her sisters Rebecca Burton (Range), Barbara Burton (Halfpenny), and Jean Burton McTaggart. She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews: Emily, Laura, Charlie, and Mary Louise Range; Alex (Allison), Matthew, and Anna Halfpenny; and Jennifer and Stephanie McTaggart. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Unitarian Universalist Church, 346 Chestnut St., Meadville, with Rev. Alex Holt, pastor, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to Allegheny College Development Office, 520 N. Main St., or the Unitarian Universalist Church, 346 Chestnut St., both in Meadville, PA 16335.
