Dale Vincent Hamilton, 82, a lifelong resident of East Mead Township, passed away Friday, September 6, 2013, at Meadville Medical Center, with his family by his side.
Born on March 13, 1931, Dale was the last surviving child of the late Francis and Luella Yoset Hamilton. He attended Wayland schools. During World War II, Dale wanted to join the Armed Forces as three of his older brothers had, but he was convinced that his patriotic duties were to use his talents by farming. Dale was the fourth generation to work and eventually become the owner of the family dairy farm.
Dale married Lucille Mercier 60 years ago; she survives. She has been his beloved wife, soul mate, partner and the ideal farmers wife. He is also survived by his eight children; sons Joseph and his wife Debra (Shesky), Gerald and his companion Sherry Parker, John and his wife Laurie (Allen), James and his wife Linda (Stafford), his daughters Debra 'Debbie' Hamilton, Rose Ann and her husband Douglas Gordon, Lucetta 'Lucy' and her husband Bill Chase, Bonita 'Bonnie' and her husband Bob Stein, 18 grandchildren Shawna and her husband Matthew Terry, Cassandra and her husband Dan Sprenkle, Corey Hamilton, Christopher Gordon and his wife Jen Seeley, Joshua Gordon, Arin Callahan, Kim and her husband Tyler Lippert, Alicia and her husband Steve Hovis, Julie Hamilton, Melissa Hamilton, Ryan Hamilton, Ashly Woloszyn, Amanda Hamilton, Andrew Hamilton, Jennifer Chase and her companion Adam Chinn, Matthew Chase, Caleb and Gabriel Stein, ten great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Dale goes to be with his deceased parents; Francis and Luella Yoset Hamilton; his brothers Audrey, Paul, Jesse, Walter 'Tom', Waid, Albert and Martin Hamilton, his sisters Eunice Watson, twins Jane Prenatt and Joan Kiser.
Dale was a lifetime member of East Mead Volunteer Fire Company, serving many offices ranging from member to Fire Chief. Dale served the people of East Mead Twp. for more than 25 years as Township Supervisor and as member of the Planning Board. He also served on many boards throughout the Crawford County Agriculture Community. He did custom work for many Crawford County farmers.
A lifetime Roman Catholic, Dale was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul, Pettis Corners and of St. Hippolyte Church, Frenchtown.
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, September 9, 2013 from 1-3 and 7-9 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. Hippolyte Roman Catholic Church, 25997 Rt. 27, Guys Mills, with Fr. Daniel Prez, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will take place in St. Hippolyte Cemetery, Guys Mills.
