Daniel Joseph Morfenski, 'Dan', went home to be with his Lord and Savior peacefully at 3 oclock in the morning on Monday, November 4, 2013, at the young age of 54. He was surrounded by the comfort and warmth of his loving family and friends and cared for by his children and family friend Chris Bearce during his brief and courageous battle with cancer.
Dan came from God June 28, 1959 to bless the lives of Lewis and Jennie Morfenski of Meadville; both preceded him in death.
Dan met the love of his life Theresa M. Servidio, 'Teri', in 1974, and they married August 25, 1979 after graduating Meadville Area High School.
Dans irrepressible love of life and fierce commitment to his family will be deeply missed, though never forgotten, by his wife Teri and their children and grandchildren: Michael, his wife Heang, and their daughters Talaya, Nivea, and Malea of Chandler, AZ; Daniel, Jr., and his children Xavier, Almaleah, Merrick, Mitchel, Ethan, and Issac of Meadville; Jenna, her husband Roger Moore, and their children Destiny and Isaiah McMillan, and Mya and Monroe of Puyallup, WA; and Andrew, his companion Kelly, and their children Kaylin and Liam, also of Meadville.
For years, Dan led his family as devoted members of the 150th Pennsylvania Bucktails reenactment regiment and St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church. He also took an active role in his childrens lives as a Cub Scout/Webelos troop leader.
Also surviving Dan are his brothers Edward Morfenski and his wife Barbara of Huntsville, AL; David Morfenski and his wife Mary of Indiana, sisters Barbara Byham and her husband Bill of Meadville; Kathleen Morfenski and Victoria Morfenski, both of Meadville, nieces and nephews Stephen and Kelly Morfenski, Jeff and Chuck Byham, Chrissy Yamrick and husband Joe, Ellie Morfenski and great nieces Brooke and Madison Byham. Several other extended family members also survive.
In his younger years, Dan was employed by American General Life Insurance Co., The Meadville Tribune, and Lakeport Distributors. However, Dan soon felt himself drawn to a community where his deep care and compassion, as well as his unique and infectious sense of humor and spirit of joy was most needed. He dedicated the past eighteen years to providing love and support to individuals with developmental disabilities while employed at Dresden Inc./TouchStone Solutions Inc. It was there that he felt he could make the most profound impact on his community and the lives of countless men and women who grew to adore Dan and were touched by his rare and deeply rooted humanity.
Always willing to go the extra mile, Dan served on the State subcommittee for LifeSharing Thru Family Living while he and Teri provided care in their home for three young men. Additionally, Dan volunteered his time, energy and efforts as a member and President of the Vernon Township branch of the Lions Club to encourage the involvement of his client-and friend-in the club. He possessed the rare ability to recognize extraordinary qualities in everyone and helped to encourage strength in all of those he encountered.
Dan was the business owner of Morfs Electric & Emporium and an avid collector who found value in almost everything. He loved to fish, hunt and tend to his flowers. In his quiet moments, Dan found strength in his wife, Teri, and the belief that all things are possible. Dan will continue to be deeply loved and missed by all who were lucky enough to know his wonderful spirit. His family and friends are comforted by the knowledge that Dan is looking down on them from Heaven with one of his many quirky and contagious smiles.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all at Southern Care Hospice, Yoland G. Barco Oncology Institute and Cancer Treatment Centers of America for the extraordinary care that was given to Dan.
