Dillon James Steele, 26, of 12371 Vanhorne Rd., Meadville, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016.

Dillon was born in Meadville, on April 29, 1990, a son of Brian and Joan (Merchbaker) Steele.

He was a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, Meadville, where he was an Alter Server up until the time he graduated from high school.

Dillon was employed as a Corrections Officer for the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections in Albion since March of this year, having transferred from the State Corrections Institute in Marionville, Forest County, where he had been the past two years. He had previously been employed by the Boot Box of Meadville since High School. Following his 2008 graduation from Meadville High School, Dillon earned his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Edinboro University. While in high school, Dillon was a three year letterman in Wrestling, competing at the weight of 152 pounds. In the summer months he wrestled freestyle. Dillon also played Football and in his earlier years he was involved with the summer soccer program. When he was a young boy, he was a Cub Scout and a Webelo. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. A member of the NRA and the Norrisville Sportsmans Club, Dillon was a gun enthusiast who enjoyed collecting guns and hunting, especially deer hunting. He was a History buff and he loved animals. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents Brian and Joan Steele of Meadville, Dillon is survived by two sisters Breanna Steele, Sierra Steele, both of Meadville, his maternal grandmother Connie Merchbaker, his paternal grandmother Florence Steele, both of Meadville, his uncles James Merchbaker and his wife Druann of Uniontown, Timothy Steele of Meadville, cousins Jordan Merchbaker of Pittsburgh, Alexander Merchbaker of Morgantown, WV, his Godson Adam Brunot of Meadville, his beloved dog Rebel who went everywhere with him, many close friends and extended family.

Dillon was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather William Merchbaker and his paternal grandfather Donald Steele.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, November 18, 2016, from 4-7 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a Scripture Service will be held at 6:30 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine Street, Meadville, at 9:00 AM on Saturday, with Fr. Tom Trocchio, Parochial Vicar, officiating.

Dillon will be laid to rest next to his grandfather in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
