Don Wesley Bivens

Don Wesley Bivens, 38, of Saegertown, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023, at UPMC Hamot, Erie.  He was with his family and his wife.

Don was born in Meadville, on December 3, 1984.

On February 22, 2022, Don married Melissa Gebhardt; she survives.

A 2003 graduate of Saegertown High School, Don went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Electronic Engineering from Allegheny Community College.  During that time he also attended flight school.  For the past ten years Don was employed by Greenleaf Corporation where he referred to his work as a "powder monkey".   Don enjoyed the martial art of Taekwondo and achieved a first degree Black Belt.  Don loved working with his hands as he could fix anything.  He strived to be a modern day homesteader, taking care of himself and his family.  His true passion was the outdoors.  Hunting and fishing with Melissa and his children brought him much joy.  He had a deep love and respect for nature.  Don will be sadly missed.

In addition to his wife, Melissa, Don is survived by three children Edward Jacob Bivens, Ahna Kathryn Bivens, Layla Jane Bivens, all at home; his parents Carol and Len Armel of Saegertown, Jon and Cynthia Bivens of Meadville, John Camp of Meadville; paternal grandparents Richard and Mary Bivens of Westfield, NY; siblings Brittany Orton (James) of Butler, Logan Bivens (Natalie) of Odenton, MD; a niece; three nephews; father in law Dean Gebhardt of McKean; mother in law Darlene Salhoff (Brent) of Edinboro; two sisters in law.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents N.W. "Ike" and Arlene Leonheart.

Family and friends are invited to call from 3-7 PM on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where a time of sharing will follow at 7 PM.
