Donald "Donnie" Eugene Hunter

Donald "Donnie" Eugene Hunter, 82, of 20316 Barton Rd., Meadville, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at Meadville Medical Center.

Donnie was born in Meadville, on February 24, 1936, a son of the late Claudie and Cora Lee (Martin) Hunter.

On September 12, 1964 Donnie married the love of his life, Rose Mae Lee; she preceded him in death on May 5, 2013.

He loved his Lord and was a member of Barton Road United Brethren Church, Meadville

In 2001 Donnie retired from Meadville Coca-Cola where over his 53 year career, he missed only four days of work. Following his retirement and into his 80's Donnie continued working at Allegheny College and Calvary Baptist School. He was a member of West Mead #1 Volunteer Fire Department. A veteran, Donnie entered the US Army on March 20, 1956 and served his country honorably until his discharge on January 13, 1958. Throughout his life, Donnie worked very hard and never remained idle. He enjoyed archery hunting, rifle hunting and working out in his yard and spent many hours doing so. His wine making skills won him numerous ribbons and awards at the County Fair. He was a New England Patriots fan. Donnie had a passion for classic cars with large bumpers and he delighted in driving his infamous "Boogie Man" car. Donnie's quick wit and sense of humor was second to none and he loved making others smile. Among other things, Donnie was known throughout the county for the intricate, hand made miniature scenes he created to honor his beloved wife, Rose, some of which included remote controlled music and lighting. He was almost as proud of his creations as he was of his children and grandchildren. Donnie was one of a kind and will be sadly missed.

Donnie is survived by four children Yvette N. Hunter, Richelle M. Hunter, Donald E. Hunter, Jr. (Dawn), all of Meadville, Shawn L. Hunter (Sarah) of Richmond, VA, three grandchildren Elise Hunter of Florida, Alivia Hunter, Jeremiah "Jerry" Hunter both of Meadville, a sister Louise Morrison of Farrell, a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his beloved wife Rose of 48 years, Donnie was preceded in death by a grandson Stephen Hunter, four siblings Claudia Mae, Thomas Hunter, Willie Jo Hunter and Patricia Jenkins Hunter.

Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, from 1-2:30 PM at New Beginnings Church of God, 13226 Leslie Road, Meadville, where A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 PM with Pastor Randy Marketich of Barton Road United Brethren Church officiating.
