Doris L. Acker, 95 of Saegertown, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Crawford County Care Center.
Doris was born in Utica, on March 6, 1927, a daughter of the late Grant and Monabelle V. (Reed) Hefferman.
On August 19, 1950 Doris married Lyle Acker; he preceded her in death on December 17, 2013.
She was a member of Norrisville United Methodist Church where she played the piano for Sunday services in her earlier years.
Doris graduated from Franklin High School and continued her education by graduating from the former Fellers Beauty School in Oil City. After she had raised her family, she drove school bus for Ralph Smith for over 25 years. She previously had been employed by the former American Viscose Corp. This entire time, Doris helped her husband Lyle on the family dairy farm. She was a lifetime member of the Hayfield Grange. Doris will be remembered as a hard worker, who enjoyed taking care of her family. She will be missed.
Doris is survived by five children David Lyle Acker (Gail) of Hollidaysburg, Mike R. Acker (Judy), Scott B. Acker both of Saegertown, Lorie A. Baker (Jim) of Kennett Square, John E. Acker (Debbie) of Saegertown; twelve grandchildren Jessica Lewis (Dave), Mark Acker (Mandy), Cole Acker (Bridgett), Clayton Acker (Brenda), Lucas Acker (Dallas), Melisa Zimmerman (Jake), Nolan Acker (Chrissy), Hayley Acker (Rick), Erin Baker, Ryan Baker, Nathan Acker (Carly), Kaitlin Powell;16 great grandchildren and one due in November; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, and her husband, Lyle, of 63 years, Doris was preceded in death by a daughter in law Rose Acker; two brothers Grant Hefferman, Jr., Thomas Hefferman; and a sister Peg Johnson.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside service at 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Reichel Cemetery, Cussewago Twp., with Doris's son, Pastor David Acker, officiating. Doris will be laid to rest with her husband, Lyle.
Memorial contribution may be made in her memory to Hospice of Crawford County, 766 Liberty Meadville, PA 16335 or Saegertown Volunteer Fire Dept., PO Box 164, Saegertown, PA 16433.
A memorial service may be held at a later date which will be announced.
